My new companion
In this post, I introduce my new “companion,” Dolores. In Spanish, Dolores literally means “pains” (plural), and her surname, Musculares, translates to “muscular.” So, in a playful yet serious way, Dolores Musculares represents the muscle pains I’m now living with. Leo, mentioned here, is my dog — the only creature I can still count on to sneak into my life on her own terms.
PARKINSON'S VS. SYSTEM

Today I have the pleasure of introducing my new travel companion. Her name is Dolores —surname: Muscular.
It seems Dolores is here to stay; she joins the list without asking permission, without me choosing a thing.
Clever one, aren’t you, Dolores? Suddenly — bam! — you’re just here.
I guess I’ll have to adopt a dog even smarter than Leo, because clearly, anyone can sneak their way in around here...
Although it was back in August when they officially told me that Dolores would be my new companion —apparently she liked it here and decided to stay— it won’t be until December that we’ll (hopefully) know how to live with her. Let me explain (parlant clar i català): everything in this capitalist system, run by people who’d rather build highways than fund healthcare —just to name one thing— moves painfully slow.
Anything that requires investing money in a sector that doesn’t yield the profits our beloved corrupt leaders expect, becomes a problem. Promises are free —that’s why there are so many of them. Action costs something —that’s why it’s delayed, and rarely arrives.
A system where healthcare is public, covered by the taxes we pay as part of it. Of course, it’s the people who abuse the system, or the immigrants, who are to blame… right.
I’m not looking for culprits, I’m not here to point fingers. I’m looking for solutions.
If there isn’t enough staff because there are too many of us, then maybe —instead of cutting— it’s time to invest.
So, poc a poc i bona lletra.
And with less ego and less money in your pockets.
Because here, the people work to sustain more than just your salaries.
Without rancor(s),
with Dolores.
You make me sick.
